Role Readiness Scoring
Quantify your preparation level for target positions
Introduction
Role Readiness Scoring distills your skill gap analysis into a single percentage. It answers the question: "How ready am I for this role?"
Why It Exists
Seeing a list of gaps is useful, but a summary metric makes progress trackable. Readiness scores let you set targets and measure improvement over time.
How It Works
The readiness score is calculated as:
1. Each required skill has a weight based on importance to the role 2. Your achieved level is clamped to the required level (you do not get extra credit for exceeding requirements) 3. Weighted achievement is summed and divided by total weighted requirements
Formula:
- Readiness = (Sum of Achieved × Weight) / (Sum of Required × Weight) × 100
Example
For a role requiring:
- React (weight 1.0, required 85)
- TypeScript (weight 0.9, required 80)
If your levels are React 75, TypeScript 60:
- Achieved: (75 × 1.0) + (60 × 0.9) = 129
- Required: (85 × 1.0) + (80 × 0.9) = 157
- Readiness: 129 / 157 × 100 = 82%

- Soft skills and cultural fit are not measured
FAQs
What is a good readiness score? Typically, 75%+ indicates strong preparation. Below 50% suggests significant gaps.
Does the score guarantee I will get the job? No. It measures skill alignment, not interview performance or cultural fit.
Why did my score drop? Updated benchmarks or synced data revealing lower activity can cause decreases.
Can I see readiness for multiple roles at once? Yes. The compare feature shows readiness across selected roles side by side.
